My favourite games

In ICT we will be designing our own educational games using a programme called Scratch. This week we want you to think about any games that you already play for example on mathletics.

Write about your favourite games:

·         What are they?

·         Why do you enjoy playing them?

·         What do you learn from them?
  • Do you have any ideas for your own educational game?

  1. my favourite games are:
scratch ,Ice cream lady, symmetrical shapes
I enjoy playing these games because I have to concentrate really hard.
I have learned about symmetrical shapes and how to sort out even programme.
but if I had to make my own educational game it would be hard, the background would be a jungle and animals would keep ask questions to the player.

  2. Crossy Road

    Main gameplay:
The goal of the games is to get as far as possible across the roads, rivers, grass and train tracks without dying. The player as a mascot, such as chicken, K-drama actor and many more, and you must tap to go forwards or swipe the screen in the appropriate way to make your player move horizontally. There are many obstacles which can cause immediate death, such as cars, rivers and trains. To get past these obstacles you have to run when the path is clear or use platforms to get past rivers. To discourage staying still, an eagle will appear and snatch the mascot if they stay in the same space for to long of move three steps back, resulting in the players death. Every square unit moved forwards will score a point, with every 50 points earned signified by a sound effect. Furthermore, gold coins are scattered throughout the environment.

    Characters:

on the iOS version there are 124 characters to unlock on Crossy Road, 93 which are unlockable from the prize machine, and 22 secret characters that can be unlocked in a various unique method.

  4. My favorites games are 'Crossy Road' and 'Minecraft'.
In the first one you need to cross the road and avoid the obstacles. You can count your score, you need to be better every time and very focused when avoiding the cars, vans and trains or police cars.
In 'Minecraft' you need to use your imagination, have an idea and plan for what you want to build, you need to count the Blocks and know how many you need.
You can also learn new words because every object is described.
In Scratch I would like to create a game with counting, where I can use my mathematical skills.

  5. On computers my favourite game is called Checkpoint. You have to reach the checkpoint but obstacles come in your way so you have to try to pass. I play it because it’s very fun.

I didn’t learn anything from the game. I thought about a game where there are lots of balls and you have to try to dodge them.

  7. My favourite games are:
    Scrabble ,bingo and cards
Scrabble: In scrabble you get 7 letters that you need to make into a word. In this game you need to make sure you can spell the words correctly before you put the letters on the board. You can also learn new words by using the dictionary to help you put your letters down. The hardest part of the game , is when you need to add words to other letters already on the board, but I enjoy this part.
You also have to count up the points you earn, on the board there are triple and double words which you need to score and add up for your total, so this means you are using your maths.

Bingo and Cards: I also enjoy playing these with my family. In these games you need to use your maths to help you add up.

  12. The Typing of the Ghosts is a game children develop their spelling skills.
Spelling is a very important skill that kids need to succeed. Good spelling has been found to enhance fluency in reading and writing. It also helps boost confidence and academic ability. Good spelling skills continue to be important as students grow older and begin writing essays and lengthy assignments. Regular readers usually have good spelling and vocabulary skills, but there are other activities as well that strengthen spelling skills. Online spelling games for kids are a good way of improving both spelling and vocabulary. These fun game enhance different aspect of spelling in different ways. For example, typing games primarily test typing skills, but children playing these games must also pay close attention to the spellings of the words in order to win.
