Is learning to swim important?
The
ASA say that children should be able to swim the National Curriculum standard
of 25 metres without any help before they reach secondary school.
But
many schools say that getting you guys to the baths and back again without
taking up too much of the school day is a real struggle.
We are lucky enough to have swimming lessons at
school. Not all children learn to swim
at school. Do you think it is
important? Write a balance argument
giving reasons for and against. You
could use the following headings:
-Introduction
- Why it is important to learn to swim.
- Why learning to swim at school may not be a good idea.
- Conclusion
- Why it is important to learn to swim.
- Why learning to swim at school may not be a good idea.
- Conclusion
Swimming is important because it uses all your muscles and is one of the most tiring sport. It can also save your life. So, when you fall off a boat, you will be able swim back. Swimming is also very fun, because, when you are good, you can do diving, cannonballs and swim however you like.
ReplyDeleteLearning to swim at school is a good idea as everyone from the class gets to swim even if their parents cannot pay for it. You also get a chance to swim along with your friends.
Learning to swim at school may not be a good idea, as it is difficult for teachers to manage the children, to get them ready for swimming.
My opinion is that swimming is the most important sport because it might save our life one day.
Competitive swimming in Britain started around in 1830, mostly using breaststroke. Swimming was part of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens. In 1908, the worlds association, Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), was formed.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky enough to have swimming lessons in school. The ASA say that children by the end of year 6 they should be confident enough to swim 25 meters without any help or stopping. Its also good because swimming is exercising and keeps you fit, And another reason is that when you get older and you go for a boat trip and your boat drowns then you may need to swim to the safest area so its good to swim for life.
It may not be a good idea because there are only 3 teachers and loads of children and they might be not concentrating because there are so many of there friends that they can chat to, or they may just be tired and then when it is time to swim they don't know whats happening or don't know what to do because they weren't concentrating and then when the children are in year 6 they go to secondary without knowing to swim.
In other sports you only use one part of your body but in swimming you use all different
ReplyDeleteparts of your body!!!!!
That's a really good peace of work!!

ReplyDeletethe ASA says children should be able to swim 25m without any help but this is not happening!!
paragraph 1:
If someone couldn't swim and they were drowning you can't help them because you
can't swim so they could drown And if you go to the beach you can't go in the water
just because you can't swim!!!!!
paragraph 2:
Schools shouldn't go swimming because they might be messing around not even listening to the swimming teacher!!!!!!
conclusion:
Yes children should go swimming because they will learn a new sport and if they
are still messing around the swimming teacher will explain how important swimming
is in life!!!
Swimming is so important that every body should know how to swim.
ReplyDeleteSwimming can really help you in life so if you have the money
you should go.E.G if you was on big ship and it
started to sink and all of the people jumped out an had to swim to
the nearest Ireland you would be in danger. Swimming is a life skill also swimming is a form of excise.
The reason why people don't like taking a class to swimming
is because there could be a delay on the coach and in might be
eating in to lesson time. Furthermore it can depend on the distance
between the school and swimming baths.
I am very lucky I have swimming lessons at school. I started in year 3. I'm much more confident in swimming now.
ReplyDeleteIt is very important to learn to swim because it can keep me fit, strong and healthy. Many muscles work when we are swimming.
It is very useful skill, when we learn how to swim at school we won't forget it. Even my baby brother is learning how to swim, and he is just 5 months old. It's good to know how to swim when we are on the holiday and can swim in the swimming pool without any support.
Sometimes for some people swimming lessons may be boring because they already know how to swim.
In conclusion I think swimming lessons at school have a lot of benefits for children.
Swimming
ReplyDeleteIt is important for children to learn how to swim because swimming is a good form of exercise. Swimming can also be a lot of fun, to do with your friends and your family.
Being able to swim can help us keep safe. If we fall into water by accident we can swim to safety.
Learning to swim at school is a good idea because you get to do it with your friends. It can be a problem if it takes up to much learning time. Also getting changed before after swimming.
I wouldn’t say yes because why would swimming be important you
Keep good exercise and keep you fit.

ReplyDeleteIs swimming important?
Some school consider swimming is an important thing that it should be given, other don’t.
However, the asa says that children must be able to swim about 25m without any help before reaching the secondary school, but it’s not.
From one side, I think that swimming is important and should be given in primary school because it’s easier to learn swimming at small age when the body still small and full of energy then learning it at older age. Besides that, imagine if you fall in the river and you don’t know how to swim, then you will sink and get hurt, so swimming can protect us from hurting our self. plus, swimming can be fun and it’s a good exercise at the same time.
From other side, I think that swimming is not that important because primary school can give the children other things as music instead of swimming because it’s more important than swimming. In addition, giving swimming lessons in primary school is a big responsibility to the school because all the children are small and need to be watched all the time. and some children can be hurt if they get water into ear that causes infection.
After all, swimming is fun but big responsibility but because its good so it worth to take risk and try!
Swimming is very important because you use all your body, muscles and strength. You can get fit and for those people who have injury or other illness its a good practice to keep the muscles working and get strong.
ReplyDeleteIf your legs are sore is good to go swimming to stretch them out in the water.
It also fun to dive and if you are able to swim you can help other people in danger situations.

Swimming is important to learn because it keeps our body healthy.it keeps us safe in water than drowning. It also keeps away the fear of water.it helps to save life during emergency.it might not be good idea if there are no proper swimming teachers near the pool in schools.
Conclusion:
I learnt swimming after coming to chatsworth school .I had some fear of water but now I love swimming.my favorite is back stroke. It is important for everyone to learn swimming.
swimming is important because it warms up your body
ReplyDeleteSwimming is very important for you and when you learn you can save people fro droning.
